HELLO PROFHILO

The first of its kind, Profhilo® is a revolutionary 'beneath the skin' hyaluronic acid moisturising treatment, made with the patented NAHYCO® technology. This results in a unique hyaluronic acid injectable gel, which has a prolonged stimulating activity on the dermal cells. When injected into skin, Profhilo stimulates the skin cell receptors to counteract skin laxity and improve and restore firmness of the skin.

HOW DOES PROFHILO WORK?

Ultra-pure hyaluronic acid is precisely injected into the area being treated. Unlike wrinkle reducing and dermal filler treatments, Profhilo stimulates collagen and elastin, attracting water in the deeper layers of the skin.
As a stabilised product, the activity on dermal cells will last longer than that of a non-stabilised gel. During this time the stimulation of four different types of collagen and elastin takes place by slow release of hyaluronic acid.
The stimulation results in significant tissue improvement. Therefore we cannot say that Profhilo is a skin booster as it also has a significant tightening / lifting effect on the tissue.

What does the treatment involve?

Profhilo is administered via the BAP technique; this uses a very fine needle to inject the product directly into five specific points on the selected target area. These are called the Bio Aesthetic Points and are seen as the optimum areas for placement of hyaluronic acid. The technique allows the treatment to be effective and simple, reducing the chance of pain, bruising or haematoma at the injection site.

Once injected, the product immediately starts spreading due to the high concentration of HA and its cohesive nature. It flows and distributes itself evenly, rather than remaining where it is placed, naturally and without resistance integrating within the skin’s existing tissue. There is no need to massage the area at home, the treatment is designed and administered in such a specific way that it is not only safe but also self distributing and even.

How many Profhilo treatments are required?

For most patients, an initial course of two treatment sessions, with an interval of one month between sessions, is recommended.
The results of the treatment – increased firmness, elasticity and an overall improved quality of your skin – usually last around six months.

So what is HA?

Profhilo is made from hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring sugar chain molecule found in skin and throughout the body, identical across species. Hyaluronic acid attracts and binds water in the skin, providing volume and hydration, but also ‘cushions’ and supports collagen and elastin fibres and also provides a medium, or carrier, for the efficient transport of chemical messages between the cells. Profhilo contains a high concentration of hyaluronic acid, exceptionally pure because its unique and patented manufacturing process does not involve the use of chemical cross-linking agents to bind the chains.

THE HERO INGREDIENT

Hyaluronic Acid is renowned for its hydrophilic effect, drawing and holding water around the skin cells, giving a super hydrated feel and firmness to skin. Patients describe skin as feeling intensely moisturised, plump and having an almost airbrushed look. It works by initially flooding the skin with Hyaluronic Acid but it also stimulates collagen and elastin production, leading to a tightening effect. Profhilo is injected gently, just underneath the skin's surface - there is some slight discomfort but it isn't painful. Downtime is minimal with small swellings on the skin for a few hours post-treatment and bruising is rare. It is usually recommended to avoid physical activity for the rest of the day and intense sun or UV light exposure should also be avoided for a few days post-treatment.

Despite being an injectable product, Profhilo is NOT filler. This treatment is in a class of its own as a 'hyaluronic skin booster'. Skin boosters attract and bind water in the skin, providing support to the underlying tissue. This means skin feels tighter and has a more 'lifted' appearance.
Profhilo is the purest form of injectable Hyaluronic Acid available and has no additives. Its manufacturing process doesn't involve the use of any chemical cross-linking agents; meaning Profhilo is a much safer option than many other injectable products.

Profhilo is easy to inject and comes with limited downtime for the patient. The procedure itself is a little uncomfortable and requires just 5 injections on each side of the face. Once the treatment is complete there are small lumps at the injection points, but they disappear relatively quickly and you can continue with your skincare regime as normal.
To achieve the best possible results, Profhilo is recommended as a course of 2 treatments, twice a year. It can also be used as a stand-alone treatment or as part of a programme of skin care in combination with other treatment approaches.

Am I suitable?

Profhilo is best suited to those over 30 with sign of skin laxity, although there is no upper age limit to this treatment, and improvements can be seen in all skins, it is fair to say more extreme laxity may require 3 sessions instead of the standard two sessions.
