What Is a Lash Lift?
A non-invasive cosmetic treatment. It is designed to boost the curl pattern of your own lashes and provide you with the classic no-makeup makeup look.

But how does it work?
A lash lift is a chemical process that curls your lashes. Unlike lash extensions, this type of lash enhancement only works with your natural lash length. There are no faux lashes involved in this procedure. Though due to the sculpting it can result in short lashes looking much longer than they naturally are.
That’s the best part about a lash lift. This cosmetic treatment boosts one of your natural features to its fullest potential.
If you are already comfortable with cosmetic treatments then the process will seem familiar to you. If not then think about a lash lift as a hair perming appointment for your eyelashes.

A lash lift is carried out in a similar fashion as an eyelash extension appointment. A professional lash lift has three main phases.
-
Prepping your lashes
-
Perming Your lashes
-
Conditioning your lashes
Each phase is given special attention and involves a number of chemicals. Your therapist at Body TLC is trained in the use of these chemicals.

The Lash Lift Process
The process begins by preparing your lashes to endure the chemicals without damage.
Deep conditioning your lashes before you arrive at the clinic is a great way to keep your lashes healthy both before and after the treatment. From time to time we stock the conditioning mascaras from as little as £7.

When your Body TLC therapist preps your lashes they will use either a conditioning treatment, a bonding agent or both.
Before any chemicals are applied, you will have a thorough discussion about the lash lift process.
If your eyes are sensitive to stimulation then be mindful of that before the appointment.
For example, you could wear glasses if you normally wear contacts and bring eye drops to keep your eyes hydrated.

Once you have a good understanding of what’s going on, you will be asked to lie down on a sanitized surface. This process may remind you of an eyebrow waxing or threading treatment. It is carried out in a very similar way.
Your eyes will remain closed for the entire procedure. lower lashes will be securely covered to eliminate the risk of them being accidently permed in the treatment, and silicone pads will be placed on top of your eyelids.
After you are in a comfortable position your Body TLC Therapist will prepare your lashes. It’s important that your lashes are clean before they apply any bonding agents.
The perming agent that is applied is safe for your face however, you should still try your best to remain still. The chemicals are rather heavy with fumes and can make the eyes water should you open your eyes mid process.

Once your chemicals are processed and removed, your therapist will apply your choice of tint colour. You can also choose to have this treatment without tint if you should so wish. Likewise, if you know that for you, tinting takes a much longer processing time than standard please mention this when booking so we can ensure we have the correct allocated time for you to get the best results!

Your lashes are then cleaned and allowed to air dry with a spooly helping to tease them into position, your fabulous new lashes are now ready for you to admire and enjoy!

The Lash Perming Agent
The perming agent varies by product lines. Make sure you discuss any allergies or concerns you may have with your therapist at your initial consultation, you will be offered a patch test - This patch test is vitally important. Especially as this product is used near the eyes.
Your therapist will be able to tell you the ingredients of the perming solution to make sure that there are no conflicts.
The lash perming agent is what is responsible for achieving your desired curl pattern. It is important to note that different perming agent formulas and lash compositions can react differently from client to client.
Since there are no lash extensions involved, your curl pattern results can vary on your natural lash length.

Lash Lift Aftercare
After your lash lift appointment, your therapist will discuss how you should care for your lashes.
The next 2 days following your appointment are important for how long your lash lift will last.
Your lash lift needs to remain dry and clean for the next 48 hours. That means no direct contact with water or sweat!
If you follow all of the aftercare instructions properly, you can expect to maintain your lash lift for over 6 weeks.
Expert lash lift clients can make their lash lift last over 8 weeks.

Eyelash Tint
(also available for brows too)
Eyelash Tinting is the most inexpensive and quickest way to define your lashes. By darkening the hairs, the need for mascara is reduced and the eyes appear wider, giving you a fresh faced and brighter appearance.
Tinting can also give the illusion of more lashes and thicker hairs.
What does an eyelash tint do?
Think of lash tinting as a semipermanent dye for your lashes. Tinting won’t add curl, length, or volume to your lashes (you’ll need to try a lash lift for that), but it will darken and intensify their colour with permanent, cream-based dyes (and in some cases, a semipermanent vegetable-based dye).

If you have naturally light or blonde lashes, you’ll definitely see the most dramatic difference with an eyelash tint.
If you have naturally dark lashes you may not see a huge difference in your lash colour post-tint though they will look slightly darker and slightly fuller. Most clients lash tips are lighter than the rest of their lashes. Tinting lashes (even naturally dark lashes) will make the lash tips look slightly longer and thicker as a result.

How long does lash tinting take?
Tinting your eyelashes is for most clients extremely fast—the dye is carefully painted on, then rests on your lashes for between two and ten minutes. Some clients - especially those with naturally dark lashes, may benefit from the tint resting for up to 20 minutes for best results. If you think this is, or could be you please let the clinic know when booking so we can extend your appointment time accordingly.

How long does an eyelash tint last?
Eyelash tints last for around three to four weeks. The dye is permanent, so the tint itself shouldn’t fade, but as your lashes fall out and new un-tinted lashes grow in their place, you’ll notice your eyelashes looking lighter and lighter. For the best, longest-lasting results, we advise you to keep the eye area dry for 24 hours after your tinting treatment and use oil-free makeup removers and creams around your eye area.

Does lash tinting hurt?
No, there is no pain with lash tinting, protective shields are placed under your lashes to help prevent skin staining - on occasion they may be placed a little too close for comfort, simply let your therapist know if this is the case and she can adjust their position.

At Body TLC we offer a discount when clients book for their brows and lashes to be tinted at the same time (you do not need to have the same shade applied to the brows and the lashes for this offer).
Other Eyelash Treatments at Body TLC
Though not strictly an eyelash treatment, the PMU (semi permanent make up) treatment for lash line infills can have a remarkable effect on making the lashes look thicker and darker - and can be done as a single enhancement, with or without eyeliner pmu.
